After
the Locusts
Restoring Ruined Dreams,
Reclaiming Wasted Years
By Jan Coleman
Review by Vickie Adkins
Jan Coleman bridges the gap for every
woman who feels she's alone in a hurtful experience. Broken promises and
ruined dreams are shared among many through the author's vignettes from
women she knows well.
Coleman shares stories of women who
have survived the death of a child, divorce, bankruptcy, abuse, and the
loss of a mate -all ruined dreams. Drawing from the Book of Joel, the
aftereffect of this pain is compared to a swarm of Locusts, swooping
down and devouring everything in their site.
Jan encourages readers that their lives
will be restored as promised in God's word, especially the Book of Joel.
Reading After the Locusts was a breath of fresh air, and a reason
to sigh with relief. Knowing that others have gotten through horrible
sadness, but also grown, flourished, and learned, reassured me that with
time and with God, we can all heal.
An encouraging book, After the
Locusts leaves you hopeful and refreshed. Jan Coleman's ability to
draw the reader into her circle of friends causes you to feel welcome
and not alone. A former journalist and humor columnist, Jan's
down-to-earth qualities are spelled out on every page. You realize she's
not only been there and done that, she's helped others along the way as
well.
