Recipe For What Ails Ya
by R. Cody Smith

The year was 1987, and at forty years of age, I had finally come to know the saving grace of God through the lordship of Jesus Christ. At first blush it seemed like all my problems were over, that the consequences a whole lot of faithless living were going to become miraculously washed awayNot!

In fact it was the results of living life "my way" that had ultimately brought me to my knees before the throne of God. My life was so horrible that I was desperate for a savior. Now I'm not casting any doubt on God's faithfulness here, just saying that the consequences of sin cast a long shadow, even in the life of a Christian.

I was depressed, lonely, worried, anxious, and fearful. If you can identify with any of these feelings (even if you've been a Christian for 20 years) perhaps I have a balm for your soul. This is a prescription given to me in a time of great need, it helped me immensely and I know it can help you too.

Read 5 Psalms & 1 Proverb daily.
Start with the today's date and add 30 4 times.
Read the Proverb that corresponds with today's date.

Example: Jan 15th, read Psalms 15,45,75,105,135 and Proverbs 15

Ok, why make it into a math problem? Well, it seems that the Psalms are often grouped together by theme, and since our goal is to find a verse that speaks to your personal situation today, we'll need to jump around a bit. If your really in a hard place, I recommend that when you find this special verse, you write it out on a 3x5 card and carry it with you all day, referring back to it again and again whenever you feel the need.
